Background

Become Polydimensional.

The 21st Century Challenge

Picture a century, where everything moves fast, theories are created each day, old techniques and ways of doing fade out each day, being replaced by newer concepts, contexts and environments change so fast that mastering only a handful of skills isn't enough. This is exactly what the 21st century is, a changing era where no one knows anything about the true nature of tomorrow.

Adapting to these new contexts means to adapt who we are as individuals, by seeking out novelty, uniqueness and most of all something so exciting and challenging that it allows us to feel, live and be in new ways yet never seen before. Being and feeling is a major challenge for individuals in today's society, every company and structure exists for the sole purpose of selling products, products and products, leaving behind the true purpose of us, individuals, to exist fully at each time and each moment.

What Does Being Polydimensional Mean?

Being polydimensional means to explore every aspect of ourselves by constantly immersing ourselves into new disciplines, environments and contexts : learning a new language, practicing a new sport, mastering our fears, building projects, etc. On this long path of exploring every possible environment, some people will think that by doing everything and being everything, we will in the end, be nothing and do nothing and to them I have quite some things to say. Abandon the concept of viewing yourself as the sum of what you do only, it is important, but by definition we are the sum of who we are in what we do, not what we do, but who we are in what we do. When we explore new environments and contexts, we do not do things or expand our abilities and skills, what we do really in reality, is expanding the spectre of who we are as individuals and the sum of who we become during the accomplishment of all these new actions is equal to our future self.

Two Meaningful Accomplishments

By reaching out to new disciplines, environments and contexts we accomplish two meaningful, forgotten and important things in this century, first the most obvious one is that by exploring different dimensions we acquire different sets of skills, which will obviously help us in whatever we do in life and especially in a century where individuals are ranked based upon the skills they possess. The second, forgotten, aspect of it, is as mentioned earlier, exploring new depths of oneself, a depth which certainly lacks due to the hollowness of things surrounding our everyday lives. By engaging ourselves on a polydimensional journey we do so much more than acquiring skills, we live to our full potential by doing things we never even imagine we could do, we explore new ways of thinking, strangers to our usual ones, we expand our identity by developing a "new" us, and so much more.

A Personal Journey of Discovery

I, myself, as the YMG Founder, have found myself by exploring completely different environments, contexts and disciplines and there is true beauty in polydimensionality, at first I thought of the logical doubt that was sitting in my head, carefully questioning the use and utility of exploring such different environments, but as the nature of doubt, it fades when faced with proofs and evidences. I found throughout this journey the proofs and evidences that, rather than losing myself, by doing so many different things, I rather found more of myself, because I understood that even if I may interact with multiple fields, I only saw one fluid version of me moving in between these different environments and I come to realise who I was. This is why, as stated earlier, we are not what we do but rather who we are in what we do, and by doing all these new things, we come to realise that despite the deep differences these disciplines may have, we on the other hand as individuals, find that we are one fluid identity moving in between all these things and the more we move, the more we explore and understand ourselves, however the more we are static the more we stagnate and limit the understanding and expansion of our identity.

The Nature of Polydimensionality

Polydimensionality in itself isn't a static notion, rather it encompasses the nature of different dimensions, environments, discipline and so on. From exploring new subjects, such as philosophy, mathematics, geopolitics to learning new languages and culture, to traveling around different countries, mastering and challenging new emotions and really just being immersed in new environments. The true challenge here is to mistake the definition of polydimensionality as being something fixed and only limited to certain aspects of life, no, being polydimensional means to explore whatever environment surrounding us, from any field, any theory, notion, scale, size, etc. The world is so vast, diverse and rich, that we as individuals have to explore it and being multidimensional and curious is one of the precious tools and ways to explore the depths of our surroundings. The true beauty of it is that throughout the exploration of the world we subconsciously explore ourselves, expand and understand who we are : true beautiful creatures destined to interact with the world in the best way possible.

Serving a Meaningful Purpose

As always, we think that nothing that we do and are should be wasted in merely superficial pursuits, rather every aspect of what we do and who we are, should serve a meaningful purpose. We as individuals, are constant ambassadors of so many things in society, the qualities we possess and the people that we are should be used as tools to accomplish rather noble achievements on this planet, whether it is to inspire someone to start a new habit, defend a person in need, help a relative with an issue he may face or relieving the burden of a friend. In that sense, becoming polydimensional gives us, as individuals, more tools, abilities and perspectives to help people with different matters, because of the depth we created by interacting with this many environments.

The Hunger of Curiosity

The aspect of polydimensionality can certainly be closely linked to a hunger of curiosity, making one want to explore all of what the world has to offer as experiences. That curiosity is rather natural for us human beings, as each one of us, as children, were passionately curious about the world around us, we always wanted to play that new game, explore that new sport, go out into places our parents repeatedly told us not to and even talk to that new classmate. As the world evolved these senses of curiosity and exploration were slowly replaced by routines and standardisation. Once again, here, the pursuit of polydimensionality can allow us to spark these forgotten senses of curiosity and exploration. Richard Feynman said : "Nobody ever figures out what life is all about, and it doesn't matter. Explore the world. Nearly everything is really interesting if you go into it deeply enough." This quote invites us to explore the multidimensionality of our world by exploring connecting with our polydimensionality.

A Powerful Tool for Change

Being polydimensional means to be the person who can make the decision, solve the problem and share that perspective when needed. The most noble pursuit a person can follow is to cast many good things throughout his life span as doing such can allow an individual to explore the true depth of himself and make the world a better place. This is why, being polydimensional, is a powerful tool to change the world and the lives of the people surrounding us, it allows us, thanks to our experiences, knowledge, perspectives and skills to provide the best possible outcomes in a given situation and on top of that, trying to solve one of the biggest western societal problem : the large existential crisis people face. Indeed purpose and existential crisis are two critical challenges people face and exploring the world, being immersed in different contexts and environments, exploring the depth of what we can do and who we can be, can certainly help tackle such challenges by using our superpower : curiosity.

Conclusion

We can never fully develop the many benefits becoming multidimensional can bring to us as individuals, but to conclude, it allows to reconnect with a natural sense of curiosity and exploration embedded in us since childhood, explore the depths of world and ourselves, allowing us to help people and change the world more effectively and tackle major existential challenges.

As a follow up to such a unique perspective, YMG engages itself on a path of allowing (to the best extent) every individual to explore the world in new ways and by that exploring and understanding our own selves in the most beautiful ways.
